Artist Biography

Hannah Caitlyn Aberle was born in Minot, North Dakota and currently lives in Valley City, North Dakota.  Although while living in Minot Hannah was involved in choir, dance, and orchestra it wasn’t until she moved to Valley City that she found her love of visual arts as a freshman in high school. Hannah immersed herself in art classes throughout the four years she attended Valley City High School and was even an art assistant to her beloved teacher and mentor Mrs. Callahan for two years. Throughout her college years, Hannah has experimented with many mediums and has found her strengths in drawing and photography. Growing up in North Dakota has provided the opportunity for Hannah to examine the beauty that is shown throughout all the four seasons. She is particularly inspired by nature and the different perspectives that light can provide to a landscape or subject matter. By means of a charcoal pencil, Prisma-colored pencils, and a lens, Hannah strives to convey a message of light and hope in a world that can often be dark and heavy. Hannah also knew from an early age that she wanted to become a teacher. As a future art education teacher, Hannah hopes to be able to build positive relationships with her students and create an environment where each student feels safe when making art. Hannah has gained valuable experience by teaching art lessons to elementary aged students through the Valley City Bridges Arts Council, submitting works to various juried art exhibitions and other exhibitions such as Choose Your Fate, and has had pieces of her work published in Valley City State University’s art magazine The Forge.
